Our introductory sessions are on the second Monday of each month.
The dates for forthcoming introductory sessions are on Mondays January 14, February 11, March 11, April 8, May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12, September 9, October 14, November 11, December 9.
Please just arrive about five minutes before the meeting starts (at 7.25pm). You don’t need to give any advance notice. If you wish, you can ring one of our contacts (click on ‘5 Contact Us’) to confirm the group is meeting that particular evening. We meet every Monday except some Bank Holiday Mondays, and between Christmas and New Year. We finish by 9.45pm.
In the spirit of Buddhism there is no charge and people are invited to donate what they wish towards group expenses. We estimate that if members on average give about £2.50 per meeting this will cover our costs – if your income is limited there is no obligation or expectation.
Can anybody sit in the meditation positions you use?
There is a range of postures to suit people of all ages and backgrounds. Most people use either a meditation bench or a chair; others use a meditation cushion. What is important is that your body is well-balanced and stable so that you can sit in an alert and relaxed way. For comfort we recommend loose-fitting clothing.
I just want to meditate. Do only Buddhists come to the group ?
You do not need to be a Buddhist to come to the group. Many people come simply wanting to learn to meditate. It is common for people from other religious backgrounds or no commitment to any faith to attend a group like ours. As long as you feel comfortable with the style of our meetings you are very welcome to come.
